Purpose

The purpose of this statement is to define San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission’s (SJRRC’s) policy with regards to the collection and use of information through use of the SJRRC website.

Anonymous Information

This type of information is transmitted by your browser and includes the URL of previous web page visited on the site, domain names or IP addresses assigned to your computer by your provider when you connect to the internet, and your browser version.

Personally Identifiable Information

This type of information could include name, address, email address, telephone number, credit/debit card information. SJRRC will make every reasonable effort to protect your privacy. It restricts access to your personal identifiable information to those employees who will respond to your request. SJRRC does not intentionally disclose any personal information about our customers to any third parties except by the consent of the person providing the information or as required by law, including, but not limited to, the California Civil Discovery Act and the California Public Records Act. SJRRC only collects personally identifiable information that is required to provide service to the customer.

Email Addresses

Email addresses obtained through SJRRC’s website will not be sold or given to private companies for commercial marketing. Email or other information requests sent to the SJRRC website may be maintained in order to respond to the request, forward that request to the appropriate department within the SJRRC or to provide the SJRRC web master with customer feedback to assist in improving the website.

Cookies

Some SJRRC applications use cookies. A cookie is a small data file that writes to your hard drive if you allow them. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. Cookies can track user traffic patterns, recognize your computer’s browser when you return, and could provide personalized content without requiring sign-in. The use of cookies or similar technology is an industry standard and does not personally identify users, although they do identify a user’s computer (IP address). You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. However, cookies may be required to use some of the web applications on SJRRC’s website.

The SJRRC website may contain links to other sites. SJRRC is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.  Users of the SJRRC website should be aware when they leave the SJRRC website they should read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information.  This privacy and security policy applies solely to the information collected on the SJRRC website.

  • SJRRC is committed to data security and the data quality of personally identifiable information that is either available from or collected by our web site and has taken reasonable precautions to protect such information from loss, misuse, or alteration. When an SJRRC website application accepts credit cards or any other particularly sensitive information for any of its services, it utilizes encryption technology all ordering information, such as your name and credit card number, in order to protect its confidentiality.

Indemnification/Hold Harmless

By using the SJRRC website, user agrees to indemnify or hold harmless SJRRC or the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) for any occurrence resulting from an act of user’s use of the SJRRC website. SJRRC and ACE will take all reasonable precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of user information but is not liable for any injury caused by the disclosure of information, whether caused by security breach, accident, inadvertence, or any other act resulting in disclosure.

This policy may change from time to time.  If so, changes will be posted as they occur.
